August challenge over at Rhedd's*

August already and time for  a new challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit and as always the theme is anything goes altered or mixed media.  For this month I bought a really cheap looking plastic from from our local pound store and guess what it cost me - a pound lol.

I painted it using gesso and then spritzed it using many types of sprays, dylusions, cosmic shimmers and glimmermists until I had achieved the deep rich mixture of colours I was happy with.  I then used purple and turquoise inka gold for the raised parts.  I then sealed with varnish.  For the insert (before picture is inserted) I decoupaged using a paper napkin.  A very short post and simple project but end result just overall gorgeousness and very effective.  Sometimes less is more.

Now for the pics.

Why not head on over and join in with this months challenge and maybe leave some love for the fab DT.

New challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu

For this month the challenges over at Eclectic Ellapu are for the Pink team '' Floral'' and for the Purple is ''It's a man thing''.

Seeing as I am part of the pink team my quest was floral.

I wanted to make something practical so I started out with 2 4x4'' box lids and a vaping liquid bottle - perfect for a tiny vase and a oddment of chipboard for the base.  I painted the whole lot pink, added crackle medium and then painted over using a grey chalk paint.  I allowed it to crackle and then set about decoupaging paper napkins over the insides of the lids, bottle and base.  I finished off using glossy varnish.  I joined the lids using pink ribbon and stuck the lids and bottle to the chipboard base. I used a variety of pink paper roses and some small leaves cut from an applique.  The point of having such a small vase is for those daisies the grandchildren pick - I now have something to put them in lol.

Now for the pics and hope you like it

Please head on over and join in with the fun over at Eclectic Ellapu

August Challenge *

over at Altered Eclectics and as always it is anything goes as long as it is altered objects and mixed media.  For this challenge I have entered an altered wooden box I have put together for a wedding present - this was a request for a friend.  I really enjoyed doing this too.  First of all I painted a darker beige before the crackle medium and cream paint.  Loved watching paint crackle - still find it all quite magical lol.  I then decoupaged a really gorgeous napkin of a boy and girl pretending to get married.  Love them.  I then did the same process for the inside and used a rose napkin.  I did alot of sanding in between to keep the surfaces smooth.  I finished it all off with a hardwearing varnish.  The lock on the box had broken so I fixed a new one on and voile all done!  Now for the pics

Thanks so much for visiting me and do come again, and while you are at please go on over to Altered Eclectics and join in with the fun
