An actual post *

I cannot believe I have managed to make something just for the sake of it without being a DT make. This has not happened for such a long time and I am pleased I have managed to do it.  I acquired a couple of small square box frames from a charity shop and well what can I say they were so awful - however potential is definitely there.

Here are the before pics

You can see what I mean lol.

First off I painted with gesso and then with a green chalk paint.  I then used white mixed media paint - the one to can whipe away with damp cloth - nice quick and easy way to distress and worn effect.  I used matt varnish over the top.  I printed an image from the net and used green taffeta ribbon for the backing.  I used the wood pieces you get with a canvas to raise it from the background for depth.  I had frayed it before hand.  I felt this had enough decor - I sometimes manage to complete something CAS without overdoing it lol.  I then cleaned the glass and sealed it all back together with my hot glue gun.

Now for the pics of the after......

September challenge Over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit *

Oh my word Christmas is almost upon us... scary!  Well it is time for another challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit and for this month I have put together a fairy in a jar and I really loved making this.

The jar is 6 inches tall, 4 inches wide and the neck is 2 inches wide.  It was a hell of a job getting the moss to stay at the bottom of jar and would only settle once I placed my fairy inside. She was a picture I managed to find on the net, cut her out and stuck her to some twigs from my garden to replicate a tree.  I placed some tiny rosebuds on the branches and manipulated the fairy and tree into the jar.  Fiddly but really worth it.  I hot glued the teigs to the neck to give further strength.  I stuck a small piece of card over the neck and covered with lace.  For the backing I used a really pretty floral/butterfly napkins and decoupaged to the jar.  To finish it off i used the same lace down the sides and made a bow for the top. Please excuse the terrible photos - difficult to get right angles without glare lol

Why not head on over to RCS and join in with the fun challenge and leave some love for the wonderfully talented DT girlies

September over at Altered Eclectics

For this months challenge I filled a triangular wooden box with stones to give it weight.  I covered it using a corrugated wrap from a panini, which I might add was really delicious lol.  I painted all in white and then decoupaged with a floral napkin.  I sealed with varnish and used a wooden frame from Fernli Designs. I printed an image from the internet and fussy cut the birds lol.  I finished off the bottom with ivory coloured felt. Voila all done and now sitting on my desk at work as a paperweight.

Now for the pics

Thanks for dropping by and why not head on over to our challenge at Altered Eclectics

This has been entered into the following challenges

Altered watch box into gift box *

September challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme for the pink team is make/altered gift box/bag so lots of scope for this challenge.  Could even make own gift wrap though I am not that adventurous lol.   The theme for the purple team this month is New Beginnings an so much scope for that too.  Really fun challenges.

Anyway for this month I have altered an old watch box to use for giving a watch to my daughter in law for her birthday.  Just hope she likes it lol.  I didn't take a pic of the box - naughty me but have found a pic on the net of a similar one.  The outside is vinyl and padded top

I painted initially with gesso, then some pink paint, crackle medium and white paint over the top.  I decoupaged the really gorgeous napkin of a really cute girl.  What I like about the effect is you can see the pink crackles through the girls face - tis wicked! well I think so anyways lol.  I used a pretty daisy trim round the base of the box, mulberry flowers, leaf trims from applique and pearl trim for the top and for bottom front I put together a daisy type flower made from various trims. Now for the pics

I do hope you like my gift box and I hope you will pop on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with the challenges this month
