Orchard - Krista Smith

Hi all

Well I have had the day at home today sorting out Mums bills etc instead of clearing out her belongings.  I feel as though I am looting and throwing her life away.  Not a good feeling at all.  Back there tomorrow though with another visit to the funeral directors for final arrangements for Wednesday.  I am dreading it but will be relieved when it is over.  Am not looking forward to reading the poem for the occasion either.

Anyway here is what took my mind away from the event for a few moments.  I coloured up Orchard from Saturated Canary and she is such a sweetie. I used prisma pencils only on this one.  I used My Memories papers, pearls, lace and ribbons from my stash. The corner die is made by Making Memories and the edge  is by Marianne Creatables.

The inside compliments the front as usual. (excuse the rubbish pics, camera playing up for some reason or another LOL)

Rapunzel A Princess - Krista Smith

Well here I am again.  I coloured this beautiful princess last night and finished putting the card together this evening.  I decided to not use a sentiment so it can be used for any occasion.  I coloured her using copics and prisma pencils.  The corner die cuts are by Memory Box and the flowers are from Mulberry Crafts.  The butterflies I found within my stash.  I used a lot of teeny weeny gems (and I mean alot LOL) on the butterflies and corners.  In fact as you can see I got carried away with them on the larger butterfly LOL.  I also placed a few gems on the butterflies within the backing paper design.  The papers are from Card Making Downloads. The inside as always compliments the front. (well almost LOL)

This will be entered into the following challenges

Well I'm going back to the sofa to watch a little TV before bed so I will say nighty night to you all

Wash Day - Krista Smith

Evening everyone

I bought new images from Saturated Canary and felt the urge to get some coloured up and before I knew it I had made this card.

I coloured her using prisma pencils.   I distressed all the edging. All the backing papers are from Card Making Downloads.  The flowers are dried and pressed and to be honest with you I bought them well over a year ago and forgot I had them LOL.  How many times has that been said in the crafting world?  If I had a pound and all that LOL.....  The ribbon and pearls are from my stash and the sentiment I generated in Word.  The inside compliments the front.

Hand me downs - Krista Smith

Hi all

Tonight I needed a little distraction from the what seems to be looting my mothers possessions and it is making me feel really sad.  So I decided to sit and concentrate on this card and now I feel really guilty doing so as I should not be enjoying myself at this time.  So many mixed emotions here.

Anyway here she is and so cute too.  I cheated and used a precut card.  I coloured her using my pencils and the corner die is from Memory Box. The papers and sentiment are from Cardmaking Downloads. The gems and lace from my stash.  The flowers come from Mulberry Crafts.  The background of the image I stamped over with sponge and distress ink.  The inside compliments the front.

Update

I am sorry I have not been posting and I am unsure as to when I will again.  This is due to my Mum passing away this wek and I am absolutely shattered with dealing with everything.  All I want to do is grieve but it appears it has to wait.  She started off with ovarian cancer over a year ago and after several shots at chemo and a major op it was found to be clear of the ovaries but had spread to the stomach and lungs.  The cancer caused blot clots in the lungs and the clots caused the lungs to fill with fluid which they could not drain due to the clots therefore she was on oxygen all the time. She could not swallow so eating and drinking practically impossible.  She had been in hospital for the main part of 2012.  She had also knocked her leg which swelled so much it split.  It wouldn heal due to huge amount of dead flesh on the top which kept the wound open.  They used maggots to eat the flesh to ease her pain.  That worked and had the maggots removed on the Monday, the same day I had found a nursing home to give her palliative care.  She was not keen to go into a home and I believe tha she did not want to rely on someone else for everything and she passed away the following day.

I have been grieving for the best part of a year watching her slipping away and I feel in a way relieved because she is no longer suffering.  She is now with her beloved husband and will be happy now.  I miss her so much and I will forever I know.

Anyway just thought I'd share this really personal experience with you but the main reason for doing so is to please remind all of you out there to have all your cervical smears as often as allowed and maybe it could save lives.
