It is time for a new challenge over at The Mirror Crack'd and the theme for September is to make an Art Shrine. I tell you I was at a loss for quite a while for this one but then out came my skellies and I knew where I was heading with this project.
I had an alarm clock that no longer worked so took all the innards out and got to work in altering it.
Once gessoed I mixed some really coarse texture paste with black and tan acrylic to give it a murky looking color. I used this inside and out then once dry I patina'd it using patina paint. I used the same for my brass cauldron - knew it would come in handy at some point. I used a red oxide colour paint for the skellies and wiped with gold inka . I layered bark (obtained this from a dead tree at work) inside at the bottom of the clock. I sprayed some dried moss in reds and brown and poked it inbetween the bark. Placed one skellie inside just chilling and one on the top with his legs crossed waving to passers by lol.
I filled the cauldron with smaller pieces of bark and some odd skellie parts. I filled the miniature bottles with moss and poured alcohol inks into them. It looks like hey are making magical potions using the cauldron and bottling them up lol. Now for the copious amounts of pics.... sorry!
I do hope to see you over at The Mirror Crack'd for our latest challenge and that you will join in with the fun. This challenge is being sponsored by Woodware giving you the chance to spend £12 in their store.
Hugz and love to you all
