Mid month Tutorial *

Hi everyone -  it is my turn to give you a mid month tutorial over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit.

I had a few wooden bangles hanging about in the deepest depths of what I call my craft room, one of which was wide and the others were varying styles.
I decided to put five of them together to make a pot for my dressing room table - I didn't want anything fancy and frilly, just simple and unique.

As you can see for yourselves I used glossy accents to adhere them together and you will also see they do not lay flat on top of each other lol.  I cut out a piece of mountboard for the bottom and sandwiched it between the bottom 2 bangles.
To make the whole structure of the pot more stable I collaged the inside using dictionary pages and for the outside I used an old paper napkin.  (sorry forgot to take a pic of the rough outside)

Once all was dry I painted the outside using white chalk paint, used a crackle medium let it dry and then finished it off with a buff beige colour acrylic.  I left it over night to crackle and I have to say am really pleased with the overall finish.  I sanded the bottom and top edges to give it the vintage look and used an old earring for the front.

Voila all done - finito!

I do hope you like my project and I do hope to see you all joining in with our current challenge HERE

Mays challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit*

Hello everyone... Today is the start of the new challenge for May over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit and it is my turn to host it.

For this month I altered a tin can and an empty glimmermist bottle and made it into a vase for my daughter.  You know when you have just a few flowers that will get lost in those large vases - well this one just fits the bill.

I painted the tin and bottle with white acrylic paint.  I then covered them with Eiffel tower serviettes.  I used diluted gesso over the top to dull the colours and roughly brushed over the top and bottom rims to blend in.  I used white cotton lace for the top and bottom and for the band in the middle for extra security for the mist bottle. I tied a bow using the lace and attached a heart from an old necklace.  I only had pale pink paper roses and needed red so I sprayed them with dylusions and I am really pleased with the colour.  I arranged them in the mist bottle and that folks is my end product.

Now for the pics

Thank you dropping in and please go on over to Rhedd's Creative Spirit and join in with the fun.

Eclectic Ellapu May challenge *

Hello everyone

Fot the May challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu this month I have created another tag.  Not quite shabby chic - just plain and simple.  I used a stencil and modelling paste for the background, then painted it all cream.  On the raised areas I painted using pink inka gold,  I used velvet ribbon and braid around the edges to tidy it up a little.  I decorated it using some mulberry roses and fabric leaves.  For a couple of the flatter flowers dotted about I pulled a rose apart and scrunched it together to make it look like a smaller flower.  I used silk ribbon for the bow and the handle.  I made a stickpin using swarvoski crystals - yes real ones I had bought a while back for a really special project.  Didn't want them gathering dust lol.

That's it for now folks just the pics to follow.

Hope you enjoyed your visit and I really hope to see you  over at Eclectic Ellapu for this months challenge of anything goes.

New challenge over at Altered Eclectics*

May.. Yayyyy!  Time for a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics and as always anything mixed media/altered goes.  For this month I put together a shabby chic tag.  been a long time since making something pretty lol.

I basically ;aid lots of different lace over for a background, printed a picture from the net and framed it using a painted frame from Fernli designs.  I added roses, leaves and a tassle and there you go - finished.

Hugz to all
