I made this project just because I felt like it. I painted the canvases in various colours - I say various colurs because I couldn't get the colour right for me. The inside I used a contrasting colour not that you can see it due to the photos and trimmings of lace and die cut edging. The lace I pleated and sticking using my glue gun... wow that was messy lol.
The front canvas I used various stamps to try and create a graveyard scene using trees, ravens in the sky and grasses. The cross I made out of broken lolly sticks and treated them with rub n buff. I painted the name Lenore on the cross using white ink pad and brush.
I used verdigris embossing powder made by WOW for all the stamp embossing on the back canvas, the iron gate fence diecuts with a little rub and buff on . This was to give the effect of age. I won the embossing powder in a previous challenge and I just love the Verdigris......
Lenore was the fiance of Guy De Vere who would not mourn the young womans death but celebrate their ascension to a new world. Unlike Poe's other poems relating to the death of young women, Lenore implies the possiblility of paradise. (Wikipedias explanation lol)
Perched on the cross is a raven I printed from the internet.
The back canvas I simply used various stamps to try and create Poe writing his poem.
The inside of the canvases are taken up with photos of Poe and his wife Virginia with birth and death dates. I am sure they feel happy to be together in my creation. He certainly loved her.
I used a couple of hinges to marry the two canvases together.
I do hope you like this project as I enjoyed doing something different.
I do hope I have managed to inspire someone out there and please call back soon.
Hugz Elaine xxx
