Altered camvas and frame for Junes Challenge over at Altered Eclectics *

June........... oh my word half way through the year. Here we are again for the new challenge over at Altered Eclectics and as always it is Anything goes as long as it is Altered/mixed media - no cards, atc's etc.

I decided to use a commissioned piece. A work colleague asked to use a picture of her mum and dad's vintage wedding picture and provided a really cheap gold frame to work with. She wanted a natural colour as the background but had provided a black and white photo. I already had in mind a 3d piece as always. I thought it would look odd just using the frame so I used a canvas as a box frame.

I stenciled a heart inside the underside of the canvas and painted using pink and purple blended from dark to light.  I used inka gold over the heart (cant really see it in the photos.

I used cane from my garden and paint it grey with crackle medium and over painted with white - again not really clear in the pics however I used the same effect on the actual frame. I used some old silk flowers and leaves and sprayed them using a pale pink spray.  I added some pearl spray amongst the flowers and leaves.  A while ago I bought the word Memories and gave it the same crackle treatment and edged the inside of the canvas using some white lace to finish it off. I varnished all the wood pieces and frame.  I painted the outside of the canvas grey and used the back of the original frame on the back.  Voila all done.....

Yayyy! it's May challenge over at Rhedd's *

Hi all

For this months challenge over at Rhedd's Creative Spirit I have put together a pair of canvases Finnabair style using Audrey Hepburn as my really stunning lady.  I printed her photos from the net, used alot of old broken jewelry, flowers, metal filigrees etc.  For the canvases I used modelling paste through a heart stencil and sprayed copious amounts of sprays for the background. After fixing them to the prepared canvas I painted them with gesso.  Once dried I covered Audrey's face with card and proceeded to spray with more vibrant sprays.  Once finished I dry brushed black paint around the image to make it pop.  Finally I stamped the lower part of the photo using a filigree stamp and edged it with black lace. I used pearl spray for the face and neck.

All done except I now have to make another one to go with it.... they are going to end up on my living room wall....eventually lol.

Now for the pics

Before just to give you the idea of the process

New challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu

Wow May already - what do they say ''Tempus Fugit''.  For this months challenge I have used a project i made as a gift to a work colleague for no real reason at all except that although I can never seem to buy my projects so I give them away.  She loved ity by the way and already hanging on her bedroom wall.

This is A4 size and padded using filling/  i covered it extensively using doilies, handmade flowers,  wedding lace, appliques, picture of a girl along with bling and tassels - lots of as you can see in the following pics

New Challenge over at Altered Eclectics *

Well here we are again folks another month gone and in May already.  For this months challenge over at Altered Eclectics the theme is Anything Goes  as long as it is mixed media/altered.

I have used an old red tray purchased from a charity shop and a smallish coffee jar.  Sorry no pics of the before - I am useless at doing this so on the ''norty'' step for me lol.

I painted it using a beige paint, used crackle medium and once dry I used cream chalk paint for the magic to happen - I just love this technique so much.  I then decoupaged napkins to both pieces and then sealed with a 2 step crackle varnish.  I then attached the pot to the tray - voila all done and dusted and ready to place on my desk at work.

April project for Rhedd's Creative Spirit *

Hi everyone

For this month I have turned my creativity over to a canvas for a change.  I used a 12x12 canvas, covered it using napkins and dictionary paper, sprayed it alot and then covered the whole thing over using bridal dress appliques lol.  Typical crafter - have one thing in mind and then change it completely.  I printed off the image and used silk flowers and pearl centres from my stash.

Thanks for popping by and why not head on over to Rhedd's and join in with the fun

April challenge over at Altered Eclectics *

For this months challenge I put together this canvas for my daughter.  She has twins and whilst trawling facebook I found these fabulous pictures of them on the swings.  I knew I had to use them and enhance them on canvas.

I used modelling paste through a stencil and sprayed using a purple top til half way down and green from bottom up.  The colour was far to strong so spent an absolute age dry brushing with white paint to make the background more subtle - took ages lol.

For the frames I cut some twigs from my garden and roughly lay modelling paste over the top to give the impression of bark.   The flowers. leaves and metal pieces were colured using the same purple spray.  Voila and all done and dusted.  this is now hanging on her living room wall.

Now for the pics - enjoy!!!

April Challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu

For this months challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu is Vintage or Shabby Chic.  I altered a plain old jar using paints, crackle medium and wiped over with green antiquing cream by decoart and then varnished it completely.  I finished it off using a pale green grosgrain ribbon from a box of chocolates I believe.  I ask everyone to keep bits and pieces for me - even the tiny pieces of ribbon from the inside of clothing lol.  I used a paper rose also from my bit box.  I am determined to use stuff instead of just buying lol.
