I am still waiting for my safety goggles and mask to arrive until I can experiment further with my glass engraver.
During the week I had been sorting out my CD's as new sideboard arrived and all had to be transferred so what better time to sort out and dust them off. I found so many still sealed and untouched lol - bit like everyone's crafty hoard. Well after culling the music I didn't have the heart to throw the excess CD's out so off they marched to my craft room where they will remain as clutter - just moved to a different room lol.
So.... I decided to make use of them - I made a brooch. I cut out wing shapes to start with. I then messed about with alcohol inks and achieved the look I wanted. I used my engraver to give the effect of the wing veins. I triple embossed using utee and then sprayed with silver mica, heated it up to give the pitted look. Trouble was I could no longer see the veins clearly enough. So out come the engraver again and voila finito - well after the brooch pin was attached lol.
Not too many pics this time....
Thank you for dropping by and really hope to see you again soon

ReplyDeleteGorgeous use of old CDs! Quite clever.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to wrap my mind around how you did that Elaine. Dear me... it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It just has so much luster and shimmer. Your 'veins' are PERFECT. No one would ever think that came from a CD in a million years. CREATIVITY at it's best. j.
