Beauty in the eye of...........D

Hello everyone

It is that time again for another anything goes challenge over at Altered Eclectics.  Anything goes lends itself to anything you feel like creating as long as it is altered art.

This time I thought I would put together a mask.

The initial mask

First layer - feathers

a little paint over the additional texture of meshy fabric

and then loads of paints, sprays, cosmic shimmer, beads for the eyes, mesh over the beads, part of grey feather on one eye as an eyelash and finally the words - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  There you go - simples!

The finale!

I do hope you like my latest project.  Why not head on over to Altered Eclectics and gain a little inspiration from the fabulous makes by the teamies and join in with the challenge.  Hope to see you there.

Art Deco......D

or is it Nouveau? I think it is close enough.  Well it best be as not making another one lol.  You guessed it I made it for our new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme this week is Art Deco.

Off I went to watch a few You tube tutorials and came across a fabulous one from Jennings644.  She inspired me with this one.

I painted the canvas black and then sprayed perfect pearls over it to give a little sheen.  I then covered it in Mod Podge.  I glued two pieces of ribbon together to make a ridge, just to look different.  I printed a photo from the net.  I just love her even though she is half dressed. Oh to have a body like that lol.  I matted the photo and glued lace and pearl trim around it to give the appearance of a frame.  I did two sides the same as you can see.  I added bling from my stash, a black and diamante rose which originated from a ring and a couple of metal leaves colored silver and black with a dash of glamour dust over the top.

Well that was easy to write about lol.

Why not head on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with the fun, we would love to see you there.

Altered Eclectics 2nd challenge.......D

Well here we are again and where has this past month gone to.  Has flown by and my has it been hot.

The project I am using for inspiration has lived a couple of lives already.  I bought the body form from a carboot for a whole 50pence, stripped it of its splendour and guess what forgot to take a pic of it lol.  Well you all know what a body form looks like with the metal hooks for arms lol.  Well this one was no different.  I was quite surprised when I had finished hacking off the material that the underneath is polystyrene - I used that to my advantage, it appears to be crackled, especially after rubbing it over with memento, splashing a little WOW glitter embossing power, heat embossed and finished off with a littlegold rub and buff.  The base had the same treatment.

This is the part where the body form has a brief second life (overnight) - again I forgot to take pics as I was just throwing caution to the wind lol.

I used tulle for the underskirt to give it fullness, a petticoat of muslin and then layer of chiffon as another underskirt.  Alot of sewing going on here lol. For the final layer I used some bridal lace and very pretty it was when it was white - actually quite stunning.  I used the same lace for the bodice and a veil.  At this stage I went to bed thinking I was finished with it.  I got up the following morning and looked at it and although it was really pretty it got me to thinking of my three awful marriages (no time to thinking of cameras at this point lol)  Off came the veil and out came my sprays - cosmic shimmers.  Took several attempt with varying colours to achieve what I wanted even though I didn't know what I wanted lol.

I had previously made a couple of chiffon flowers which I didn't particularly like and had been thown into the bottom of my flower bucket. I sprayed them using the same colours.  I cut a piece of card and joined into circle and attached it to the bigger one.  I then attached the smaller one to the top and turned the petals down to cover the card.  I added a couple of feathers but couldn't spray them too much as it ruins them so can still see a little cream in them - we shall call that contrast lol. I made a smaller circle of card with lace on it, sprayed it, attached to the bottom and glued it at a slat on her head.  I attached box pleated ribbon round her neck and stuck a pearl as a necklace.  I sprinkled gold glitter embossing powder all over and heated as normal.  Finished it off I think.

I also hope I don't feel like making it steampunk when I awake for work in the morning lol.

Here are the pics and I hope you like my inspirational project for Altered Eclectics.

Don't forget it is anything goes every month, no cards, atcs or scrapbooking.

New challenge at Eclectic .... D

Time for the pink team over at Eclectic Ellapu this week and I have chosen the theme of Anything goes... everyone's favourite.

For this challenge I bought a cheap and nasty clay wellie boot from a pound shop in town.  Yes it cost me a whole quid and I think I was robbed lol.

See told you I was lol.  Anyway I smothered it in modelling paste to disquise the snail and butterflies, I pressed white lace into the paste.  I then dropped the boot and it broke in half.  Out came the glue gun and more paste and lace.  See you cannot tell. (well I hope not)

I painted the entire boot using a metallic burgundy paint and dry brushed it with back acrylic.  This defined the pattern in the lace.

I found an old bracelet at a car boot sale and used the links for the bootlace eyelets.

I think they worked really well.  Looked better with coat of paint and a little rub n buff.

I used a piece of an old table cloth painted black for the background of the eyelets.  I glued them in place and then wound black sheer ribbon around the bracelet links and small brass flowers with black acrylic beads in the centres.

I used the same ribbon for the bow at the top - quite difficult to see though.  I used an old doily over some wadding and painted it all black.  When dried I pushed it inside the boot and now I have my very own stickpin holder.  I don't think the pins in there at the moment suit the boot lol.  Ho hum never mind!

Well I hope you have enjoyed this post and why not head on over to Eclectic Ellapu for this weeks fun challenge

My lil' Princess.......D

It's time for another challenge for the Pink Team over at Eclectic Ellapu, our hostess is Kelly and her chosen theme is FLOWERS.

I altered the inside of a canvas to appear like a picture/shadow frame.  I wanted to make a birthday picture for my eldest Grandaughter, Alanna,  whose birthday is in June.   Alanna was a bridesmaid in this pic and was originally in black and white.  The first thing I did was to give it sepia tones in my editing program.

I painted the frame using cream acrylic.  Once dried I attached copious amounts of lace inside and out.  I then attached bead trimming and lots of dark pink flowers.  I coated it all using cream paint.  Once dried I sprayed it using perfect pearls and to finish it off I used gold rub n buff over random areas.

Well that was a simple and enjoyable project - Just hope my Princess loves it.
Why not come on over and join in with our fab challenge, we would love to see you there.

Our Debut over at Altered Eclectics D- Everything in the garden is rosy!

Yes that's right.  My latest blog has gone live today.  It is ANYTHING GOES every month which start on the 1st of the month every month.  It is ALTERED ART ONLY.  No cards, layouts or ATC.  I realized  there are not really all that many blogs to cater for us eclectics so here we are.  Pop on over and see the design teams creations, they are outstanding.  Leave some love if you feel like it and join in.  You have a month to create.

Anyway down to business.  I bought a set of 3 awful canvases from a car boot sale a while back so decided to put one to good use.  I have already used one, just one to go.  They are about 12x12 so quite a large space to cover.

I recently been watching Jennings644 over on YouTube and found a tutorial on a shabby chic canvas using the technique of paining over all the embellishments on a canvas.  I have to admit I was scared after spending so much time on it initially. It worked thank goodness.

I gessoed it and painted it in a creamy color acrylic.  I adhered a wooden birdcage, birds, loads of flowers (the one on the right I made and I will be putting a photo on this post pre canvas days lol) three chipboard dress forms, covered in lace and dried flowers (not that you can see lol) and loads of different metal butterflies which were originally on necklaces.  They came in handy lol.  The cherubs and clouds I cast myself using plaster.  the ledge where the cherub appears to be leaning on was part of a picture frame which I sawed off and let me tell you, I sawed my thumb knuckle lol.  It hurt but A&E was not necessary.  It just got sealed with modelling paste when covering the clouds lol.

Once it was dried properly I used cosmic shimmer sprays over it.  Again once dried I used a white rub over some raised areas to highlight them.  Voila all done!

Anyway now for the overload of pics.  I always go over the top and I am sorry for that - well a little anyway!

Time to Party...........D

Hello my crafty buddies

Time for a fun challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and it is Sandie's choice of theme this week

Time

So that will be your interpretation of Time

Today I just could not resist playing with my plaster and molds.  So this morning I cast a few items.

I then decided to play further and incorporate a couple of the faces into a mixed media canvas.

I covered the canvas in modelling paste, smoothed a third, chopped about another third and crackled the remainder.  I painted the faces black and stuck them to the canvas and paste whilst it was still wet.

I made impressions using skeleton hand stamps below the lower face.  I painted up masks, name plates, letters, clock hands and clock face using gold and black eco paint.  Before sticking them to canvas I dry brushed red and gold over the different textures to give the piece some depth. Voila all done!

I do hope you like it and thank you for visiting me today.  Please take the time to visit Eclectic Ellapu and we would love you to join in or perhaps leave some love for the fabulous DT.

Two Unintentionals!... D

Hi everyone, Time for another challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and it is Asha's turn to chose the theme and that is

That will be quite easy to portray summer in a project, don't you think?

I was going through my late mum's photos for the first time since she passed last year and found an empty journal.  I have never before used one and it was like a sign to get on and make one. She was telling me to.

Well anyway I was playing about with my journal using Dylusions, Distress ink and Indigo blu stamps. Now before I started there was a part of the pages that got stuck together previously and I thought, well I will cover that somehow.

There was no need to cover it.  It looks like a couple of things to me - A pen pointing at the sentiment, perhaps a gnarled finger with long fingernail or a trench/hole in the ground.  Final decision on that made.

While waiting for it all to dry, thinking what to do next, an image popped out of the page to me.  I am unsure as to whether it will appear to you but it has to me and I see it as a sign from my dear lovely Mum.  It is on the left hand page above the grass next to the branches.

If you cannot see it then I will just take it that it is all in my head and just confirms I am mad - not that I didn't already know it!

Now you have my reason for doing nothing else to it.  My Mum is still with me.

Anyway I hope you like my half finished project - well finished to me.

Why not head on over to EE and join in with this weeks challenge.

Hugz and love always to you all

Just a box...D

Hi all

I had tried altering this box several times and had all but given up with it.  Why is it sometimes things just do not go to plan.  This started life as an old perfume box.  It then started to be an oriental piece in black and red but didn't like it.  Then I painted it brown with crackled cream over the top - that did not work for me either.  I then collaged it with Da Vinci images on tissue paper and yes you guessed it i didn't like it.

This is the finished product of all my wasted time and it is the final time.  I have to say I am still not all that pleased with it.   I have covered it in K&Co papers, edged it in beige trimming and covered in varnish.  I made the 2 rosettes out of the same trimming.  The inside is also covered in another design from the same stack.  I added 4 lengths of the trim to tuck paper and bits behind them.  I also added another rosette with a couple of pieces hanging down.  Quite difficult to see really.  I have not decorated the box top as I plan to use this to store ink pads so no real point.  Anyway here are the pics......Hope you like it more than I do lol.
