Out of Comfort Zone - *

The challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu this month is as the title states - OUT OF COMFORT ZONE and crikey art journals scare me out out of my wits.  I have no idea why as I like canvases but then again they are more dimensional.  Anyway here it is - the list of products used to create this.

Ingredients
paint
sprays
stencils and modelling paste - I couldn't resist dimension lol
individual letter stamps
black ink for the edges then bleached in parts
ink for the faces when paste dry
purple metallic paint for the clock faces
badly drawn clock hands lol
white pencil blended out
script stamp randomly all over including the clock

Recipe - throw it onto page lol

I am still unsure of this but I think it is the best it is going to get lol.

Why not head on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with the Pink teams fun challenge '' Out of Comfort Zone ''or you could join in with the Purple  teams challenge of ''April Showers/Spring''
Just wait til you see the fabulously talented DT creations - they are fandabbydozy!

Art Deco......D

or is it Nouveau? I think it is close enough.  Well it best be as not making another one lol.  You guessed it I made it for our new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme this week is Art Deco.

Off I went to watch a few You tube tutorials and came across a fabulous one from Jennings644.  She inspired me with this one.

I painted the canvas black and then sprayed perfect pearls over it to give a little sheen.  I then covered it in Mod Podge.  I glued two pieces of ribbon together to make a ridge, just to look different.  I printed a photo from the net.  I just love her even though she is half dressed. Oh to have a body like that lol.  I matted the photo and glued lace and pearl trim around it to give the appearance of a frame.  I did two sides the same as you can see.  I added bling from my stash, a black and diamante rose which originated from a ring and a couple of metal leaves colored silver and black with a dash of glamour dust over the top.

Well that was easy to write about lol.

Why not head on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with the fun, we would love to see you there.

New challenge at Eclectic .... D

Time for the pink team over at Eclectic Ellapu this week and I have chosen the theme of Anything goes... everyone's favourite.

For this challenge I bought a cheap and nasty clay wellie boot from a pound shop in town.  Yes it cost me a whole quid and I think I was robbed lol.

See told you I was lol.  Anyway I smothered it in modelling paste to disquise the snail and butterflies, I pressed white lace into the paste.  I then dropped the boot and it broke in half.  Out came the glue gun and more paste and lace.  See you cannot tell. (well I hope not)

I painted the entire boot using a metallic burgundy paint and dry brushed it with back acrylic.  This defined the pattern in the lace.

I found an old bracelet at a car boot sale and used the links for the bootlace eyelets.

I think they worked really well.  Looked better with coat of paint and a little rub n buff.

I used a piece of an old table cloth painted black for the background of the eyelets.  I glued them in place and then wound black sheer ribbon around the bracelet links and small brass flowers with black acrylic beads in the centres.

I used the same ribbon for the bow at the top - quite difficult to see though.  I used an old doily over some wadding and painted it all black.  When dried I pushed it inside the boot and now I have my very own stickpin holder.  I don't think the pins in there at the moment suit the boot lol.  Ho hum never mind!

Well I hope you have enjoyed this post and why not head on over to Eclectic Ellapu for this weeks fun challenge

My lil' Princess.......D

It's time for another challenge for the Pink Team over at Eclectic Ellapu, our hostess is Kelly and her chosen theme is FLOWERS.

I altered the inside of a canvas to appear like a picture/shadow frame.  I wanted to make a birthday picture for my eldest Grandaughter, Alanna,  whose birthday is in June.   Alanna was a bridesmaid in this pic and was originally in black and white.  The first thing I did was to give it sepia tones in my editing program.

I painted the frame using cream acrylic.  Once dried I attached copious amounts of lace inside and out.  I then attached bead trimming and lots of dark pink flowers.  I coated it all using cream paint.  Once dried I sprayed it using perfect pearls and to finish it off I used gold rub n buff over random areas.

Well that was a simple and enjoyable project - Just hope my Princess loves it.
Why not come on over and join in with our fab challenge, we would love to see you there.

Time to Party...........D

Hello my crafty buddies

Time for a fun challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and it is Sandie's choice of theme this week

Time

So that will be your interpretation of Time

Today I just could not resist playing with my plaster and molds.  So this morning I cast a few items.

I then decided to play further and incorporate a couple of the faces into a mixed media canvas.

I covered the canvas in modelling paste, smoothed a third, chopped about another third and crackled the remainder.  I painted the faces black and stuck them to the canvas and paste whilst it was still wet.

I made impressions using skeleton hand stamps below the lower face.  I painted up masks, name plates, letters, clock hands and clock face using gold and black eco paint.  Before sticking them to canvas I dry brushed red and gold over the different textures to give the piece some depth. Voila all done!

I do hope you like it and thank you for visiting me today.  Please take the time to visit Eclectic Ellapu and we would love you to join in or perhaps leave some love for the fabulous DT.

Two Unintentionals!... D

Hi everyone, Time for another challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and it is Asha's turn to chose the theme and that is

That will be quite easy to portray summer in a project, don't you think?

I was going through my late mum's photos for the first time since she passed last year and found an empty journal.  I have never before used one and it was like a sign to get on and make one. She was telling me to.

Well anyway I was playing about with my journal using Dylusions, Distress ink and Indigo blu stamps. Now before I started there was a part of the pages that got stuck together previously and I thought, well I will cover that somehow.

There was no need to cover it.  It looks like a couple of things to me - A pen pointing at the sentiment, perhaps a gnarled finger with long fingernail or a trench/hole in the ground.  Final decision on that made.

While waiting for it all to dry, thinking what to do next, an image popped out of the page to me.  I am unsure as to whether it will appear to you but it has to me and I see it as a sign from my dear lovely Mum.  It is on the left hand page above the grass next to the branches.

If you cannot see it then I will just take it that it is all in my head and just confirms I am mad - not that I didn't already know it!

Now you have my reason for doing nothing else to it.  My Mum is still with me.

Anyway I hope you like my half finished project - well finished to me.

Why not head on over to EE and join in with this weeks challenge.

Hugz and love always to you all

Oh Leonardo....not Di Caprio... Da Vinci!!!! D

Hello once again

It is challenge time over at Eclectic Ellapu and this time it is May's choice of theme

Anything with Wings

This canvas was never meant to be like this.  I had transferred a few images of Mona and Leonardo but didn't like it apart from the gorgeous lady at the bottom left.

I lay some modelling paste, a little crackle embossing paste and fine ropey twine on the top. I randomly daubed olive green, red and gold acrylic paint over the textures.  I don't know why I bothered as it cannot be seen lol.

I generously covered the pretty lady with rock candy. I broke the bars of the birdcage so the lovely lady can be seen .......  it had to be done.  I glued a couple of birds on the cage with a rose bud.

The flowers on the right started off as putrid blue and white, awful looking.  I painted them in gold as I did all the embellies, including the jigsaw pieces before stamping the man himself on them.  The clock face with the wings sit behind him... Did not have any single wings in my stash ;-(( so had to improvise.

The heart I cut out using a paper artsy die, triple embossed and mica powders over the top once I had bent and cracked it up.  Finally words were added.  I do hope you like this as much as I enjoyed making it.  Now for the copious amount of piccies.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and hope you will come back again.   Why not pop on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with our fun challenge.

Apothecary Shop in Turmoil.......D

Hey everyone

This week it is my choice of challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and I took the easy option again!

Anything goes

I chose to put together a canvas.  I love working with canvas... oooooooooooooo!

I smothered the canvas with modelling paste mixed with green acrylic for part of background and then added blue for the remaining areas.

I used cogs to imprint the background.  Once dry,  I dry brushed over the raised areas using red.  I then used a gold spray and finally gilding wax in bronze.

I filled the two glass vials with red paint and the other with gold mica spray. The smaller bottle with the red paint appears to have toppled over, look at all that red mess... wheres the cleaner when you need her lol.

The wooden vials, the Bunsen burner, ravens, watch face and cogs had modelling paste wiped over the top to give depth and treated the same as the canvas background apart from the ravens.  They were painted black with rock candy over the top.

I coiled some copper wire from my stash and just randomly placed onto the canvas.

I do hope you have enjoyed your visit as much as I enjoy you visiting me.  Please do call again real soon. Oh and don't forget to pop on over to Eclectic Ellapu and join in with the fun.

My Turn, My Turn.......D

Well it is my turn to host the challenge this week at Eclectic Ellapu.  I chose Anything goes and how exciting is that lol.
Why not head on over and join the fun...

I recently bought some plastic face masks to decorate and couldn't wait to get going on them.  I just did not know what theme I want to concentrate on so I just went with the flow.

I used paper mache for the basis of the mask for a couple of layers and used muslin for the final layer.  The masks are so flimsy it would have made it difficult to work with otherwise.

Once I had completed the layering of material and it had dried I smothered the entire mask with modelling paste mixed with gold acrylic.  I then embedded black spider netting into parts of the mask.  For the remaining bare areas I mixed some crackle embossing paste with black acrylic, laid it over those areas and let it dry.

I sprayed the entire mask with gold shimmer mist. I then wiped some gold rub n buff over the textured areas.  I also used the gold over the metal embellishments, butterflies, made up flowers and leaves.  I trimmed the edges using a goldish braid.

Before........

And after.........

Well that's it folks and I hope you have enjoyed visiting my blog and do hope to see you join in with this weeks challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu.

It's all in the stars - Astrological Signs.......D

Where does all the time go...it's time for yet another challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and it is the Pink Teams turn.  The challenge this week is being hosted by the lovely Dawn and the theme is

This can be interpreted in any way you wish ......

I chose to alter yet another canvas.  I gessoed and then laid down modelling paste mixed with dark blue paint.  I then used crackle embossing paste with a patina coloured paint.  Once crackled I collaged over the top using individual zodiac signs which has covered most of the textured crackling lol.

I then stamped a zodiac circle on white card and tore round it.  I dabbed navy and red DI over the top.  I then triple embossed it using utee.  Once dry I cracked it in places for the battered look.  I added a pointer in the middle to choose the birth sign required.  The same technique was used for the lettering.

I will be giving this to my son instead of a card for his birthday in May.

I do hope you have enjoyed your visit and I hope to see you join in over at Eclectic Ellapu this week.
