Emblies Rock...........D

Hello everyone

Time for this weeks challenge over at The Outlawz, Paper ala Mode which is
So out came a canvas.  I stamped the entire canvas using a script stamp and I then used a leaf mask from CE and sprayed with glimmer mist.  I then stamped lightly over the background using a flower head stamp and sepia archival ink.  The sentiment came from a set which I think is called Art flowers.  All the wooden embellies used are from CE.  Some I used metallic paint on and the some I covered in glossy accents.  I am pretty proud on my word flower lol.

Anyhow here are the pics and I hope you enjoyed your visit.

New Crafty-Emblies Challenge .......... D

Hello everyone

Its time for the new monthly challenge over at Crafty-Emblies(CE)  Now for those of you who know me will understand that I struggle with Shabby Chic and have always gravitated toward the darker colours so I set myself this personal challenge.  I have to say I am quite pleased with the result however will not be repeating it anytime soon lol.

I used one of the new shadow boxes from CE and painted it white with a little crackling going on.

I then started to fill the cubby holes.  I will show the individual pics and try to describe what is going on with the pic lol.  Long haul this is.

On the left I made 2 lil boxes out of white card and decorated.  The bird and trellis are from CE.  I filled the glass vials with pearl gems and pink paint.  On the right I made a frame and used a tiny basque from CE and next to it is a rosebud - unable to see it due to the angle of pic.Next to it is a larger basque from CE edged with cream marabou feathers for the skirt and crystal hearts scattered about.  Beneath one compartment has a CE key and lock painted white again hard to see due to angle.  Next to it is- you'll laugh at this) I knitted some hairy wool using cocktail sticks - however so hairy not that clear - you can see the stitches on the sticks lol.

Left - I made the pearl flower using my stash of odd beads. I used another glass vial with flowers from my stash.  I tossed a few lonely pearls inside also. I used a tiny Victorian lady image and placed it into my handmade frame embellished with more pearls.
On the right you will see the front of a birdhouse, 2 mannequins, scissors, buttons, birds, sewing machine and to the side a huge sewing needle threaded with ribbon - all from CE.  the tiny reels are from my stash as were the lace and trimmings.

Both images enable you to see the 3D effect and see the key peeking out of its compartment.  The birdcage I snapped and bent enough to make it 3D.

To the left is another 3D view.  To the right are the jars again.  beneath that you will see another handmade pearl flower.. the rest you have already seen.

Another 3D view but this time of the top.  I made letters out of mulberry papers and a Kaisercraft script stamp.  I added an old pen nib to add to the effect.  Beneath are just a few flowers and lace from my stash. Next is the dragonfly on the trellis.  What you will not be able to see are the birds behind the trellis.  If you look hard enough you will see another bird peeking out through the trellis.

This is a bottom view.  to the left I made a pin cushion with a couple of cut down hat pins.  A metal butterfly painted white.  Next is another trellis with flowers, leaves and bird from CE.  A couple of punched out butterflies also.

This butterfly is from a spellbinders die a friend gave to me.  Love it.  I painted it pink and decorated with pearl trim. The dangly pearl is one of my wedding earrings so a touch of real gold there - pure opulence!  Don't worry no memories shattered using this item.  marriage was over years ago.  You wait until I start cutting up my wedding dress for flowers! Joking far too expensive for that lol.

Another view of the CE birdcage and
another bird behind it.

In this last picture before
the entire creation you will see a tiny mirror in a frame.  This was also made by me.  The lamp posts are also from CE.  I hope I have covered it.. OMW my finger tips hurt typing this out. LOL.

And now for the final picture which you may or may not have been waiting for.

Thank you for taking the time to read/look at my latest posting and I do hope you enjoyed peeking.  I think I have it all covered and apologies if I have missed anything.

Do pop on over to Crafty-Emblies and join in with our fun challenge.

Happy Crafting everyone

Another project complete.......D

Good evening everyone

What a lazy day I have had in my PJ's popping back and forth to my craft room.  I completed a birthday card earlier and this evening I felt like making something else.  I had a small shadow box, bought from Crafty-Emblies, sitting made up on my table and ready to be altered.

Out came the gesso and black paint for the base.  I had in mind to make a time project so out came a clock mask. I mixed modelling paste with a little green patina paint and covered the back and sides using the mask.  (I did not take pics of sides.. I forgot!)

I then sprayed with cosmic shimmer mist to give it a lift.  I also sprayed the inside of box and all the Crafty-Emblies embellies.  I adhered various metal charms of clocks inside the cubby holes.  As you can see I have added metal photo turns to the clock faces.  The alphabet tiles also from CE spell out Time Flies/Tempus Fugit.  I think I have covered it all lol.

Here are the pics

That's it from me tonight as am now tired lol.

Goodnight all

You Have Captured My Heart.........D

Hello everyone

It is time for another monthly challenge over at Crafty-Emblies (CE) and the theme this month is

Anything goes

I decided to challenge myself and make a mobile ... not a phone either lol. Firstly I had never made one before and secondly I could not make up my mind theme and shape/form it would take lol.

I sat staring at my table and spotted two boxes I had prev bought from CE and then the bulb shone brightly in my brain.  Hanging shadow boxes with lids in between.  I did not envisage how long this project would take but hey I enjoyed it.

I did all the basic preps using gesso, paints etc on all.  I stippled, crackled, used stone effect using different mediums etc.  You will be able to see and recognise the techniques I have used.

The first lid from which it would all hand from I used a stone effect on both sides, one smooth and the other peaked using different shades of browns, creams and then sprayed with shimmer mists.  I then adhered random words on both sides.  That part was easy lol.

For the first box I decided to make it as male as poss.  I stamped my Kanban Mannequin on the base of box and heat embossed in a spice colour.  I then added colour using brush and distress ink from the pad.  i then randomly stamped using a barbed wire stamp.  For the trimming I used some stiff mesh, cut it randomly and wiped over with pumice stone DI  to give the effect of wire mesh.  I finished the edges with chain from an old necklace.  I did the same with the other side after decoration inside.  I stuck lots of cogs and chain on the background and then stuck a penny farthing and 2 cogs around the sides to make it more 3D.  ever seen someone sitting there holding onto a piece of wood in place for ages lol.  I used glossy accents and did not want it all leaning over lol.  Round the outside edge I stamped cogs and then added more cogs.  Phewwwwww! wipes my brow, all this typing is making me thirsty lol.

For the next part I used the second lid.  On one side used letters from CE, You have captured my heart.  So on the reverse it made sense to collage lots of hearts. I used different techniques on these also, triple embossing, distress inks and stamps and sprayed with water, glossy accents molding paste and crackle embossing paste using shimmer mist along the way.  I used the triple embossed tall heart as the focal point.  I then used copper coloured wire to encase and capture the hearts.  I think in the end the wire took over in the focal point department. It took alot of my patience lol.

The final box was to be feminine so lots of flowers, lace and pearl trim was used.  The female mannequin by Kanban got it's chance to see light of day lol. Again embossed and coloured. Back ground randomly stamped with a swirly stamp.  the inside of the box I used many more Emblies, female themed of course. birds, birdcages, dress form, pram and buttons.  I am running out of Emblies lol and I like to site and hold things in place to dry!

The best part of all was wiring them together. Voila finished at last! My word it is heavy however that in itself made it turn just nicely.
I hope you enjoyed sharing my project.  It would be great if you could pop on over to Crafty-Emblies challenge blog here to join in the fun.  We would to see your projects to give us inspiration and you never know you may just win the £10.00 prize to spend on Emblies.  I think I need to win it now LOL.

Another project to share..D

Hi all

I have been real busy at work this week and not an awful lot of quality time spent with my crafty goodies.....
I have managed to put this altered canvas together last night and is my second entry for the CRAFTY-EMBLIES altered art challenge - the theme is WINGS.

It depicts the imprisonment of a lady and the birds are free.  I used an old rhyme I remember from childhood.

''1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive... 6,7,8,9,10 then I let him go again.
Why did you let him go. Because he bit my finger so!''

I obviously just used the first two lines and changed the word fish to bird.

I gessoed the canvas and then started laying texture using texture past and acrylic paints.  A third of the canvas was crackled over the past and paint, a third was just texture paste with paint, partially dried and then dragged to produced wrinkles.  Difficult to see the different texture patterns but they are there lol.

I triple embossed the birds and the cage.  The cage was embossed over top using verdigris embossing powder to give it the aged look.

The body form and top hat was painted using viva decor metallic paints and then stamped with the lady image, called Isobel.  I love her so much - stunning image.  I then triple embossed them to give them depth.

All the embellishments came from Crafty-Emblies.  I just love them so much.

I used number tiles for the numerical part of the rhyme which were then covered using glossy accents.  I used my machine thingy for the wording

I really enjoyed putting this canvas together and I hope you enjoy seeing it.

Hugz to you all and enjoy what is left of the weekend

I now return from whence I came!.....D

 Hi everyone

So excited as this is my first posting as DT for Crafty-Emblies Altered Art.  This is a really special time for Judie over at CE as we now have a specific Papercrafting Challenge with some really talented ladies.  Wowzers you just wait and see.  Both teams will be creating for the same theme each month.  This month we both go live on the same date, 17th Feb, but from next month altered art will be on the 1st of the month and the Papercrafting challenges will go live on the 15th of the month.  The challenge this month is

''WINGS''

Anyway onto my creation.  First of all I want to explain my title for this piece... I want it to come across that when we are born we are like angels from above and once in the coffin of wings we are returning to the heavenly above.  Does that make sense???.. well I thought it did at the time lol.

I made a coffin, not a boat, out of ordinary card using a Martha Stewart template.  I covered it in red, blue and black paint with a little bit of crackle.  The reason I say it is not a boat is that Paula, my Design Team Leader for Eclectics, said it was a nice boat when she first saw it LOL......

I die cut the iron fence using TH die painted it black and rubbed a little rub n buff into it. I attached this to the base of the coffin as decor and the lid to look like railings just like you sometimes see on coffins.

The lid of the coffin was like a box lid and it did not suit me so I cut off the overhang so the lid would slide.  I used chipboard to strengthen the lid.

I covered the cut off overhang from the lid with teeny weeny Fleur de Lis and attached it to the top edge of the coffin.  These were the left overs from a mask I bought from Crafty-Emblies. They came in real handy as you can see.

I used quite a few winged embellies made by our esteemed leader and her hubby, Judie and Pete, gave them all the same paint treatment and placed them on top and round the sides of the coffin.  I sprayed my creation with Cosmic Shimmer Mist to give it all a bit of an ummmmpppphhhhhh!  Hope it worked for you lol.

Now why not head on over to Crafty-Emblies and join in with this fun challenge.  The prize is not to be sneezed at either - £10.00 gift voucher for their fabulous shop.  Believe me you will want everything just like we do lol.

Hope to see you there..... Go on, you know you want to!! Whilst you are there soaking up our fab teams inspirational projects you may want to leave some love on their profiles.  we love comments as much as you.

Hugz and love to all

Another altered box..........D

Hello everyone...

Once again it is time for the new challenge over at Paper Ala Mode, The Outlawz. The challenge this week is Movement ie flight, walking, transport - anything along those lines and is being hosted by the talented Madeleen.  i am pretty biased as she is on my DT too ;-))

I decided to alter another box - am a fanatic with boxes lol.  At least lots of prezzies are being borne of my fanaticism lol.

I painted the box with gesso and then used alcohol inks for the base.  I stamped a map background on tissue paper and layered it onto the box deliberatelyy wrinkling it to give it texture.  Unfortunately the map disappeared against the background lol. Oh well lesson learnt from that!

Once dried I spritzed it with red and gold sprays to give it a bit of umphhhh! I then wiped a little rub and buff over some of the creases.  I applied white crackle paint using  palette knife and spread it over the top of the box.  It gave more texture near to the ceases and you can see a little crackle in parts.

I painted the penny farthing and wings I had bought from Crafty-Emblies using Viva decor metallic paints.  I then triple embossed them using clear UTEE.Ouch Ouch Ouch.. my poorly finger tips lol. They look quite effective I think.

I adhered them to the box using glossy accents.  The upper wing is on the lid so when closed it is in the desired place.

I painted the inside of the box using blue, pink and black to give it a mottled effect and was then varnished.

Well I think that is about it. I can hear all the sighs of relief lol.

Why not pop on over to the OUTLAWZ and join in with this really fun challenge.

Hope to see you there
